No Blank Check for Utilities ComEd and Ameren

The Illinois Legislature is considering giving electricity utilities ComEd and Ameren a blank check to raise electricity rates and exert more control over our energy future. Even worse, the check won't expire for 10 years.

If this legislation passes, rate hikes would be set by a utility-friendly formula rather than state regulators, meaning higher bills for consumers and utilities facing less scrutiny at a time our energy system is rapidly transforming.

Illinois residents deserve a consumer-centered, 21st century clean energy system. Now is not the time to hand utilities a blank check to do things the old way. Contact your legislator and tell them to oppose giving a blank check to utilities to raise electricity rates and control our energy future.
